The Aspen Professional Ski Patrol Association represents patrollers in labor negotiations. All hiring is done by our employer, the Aspen Skiing Company.
Hiring of new ski patrollers normally happens in the Fall although sometimes an opening occurs during the course of the ski season. Minimum qualifications include a current OEC (Outdoor Emergency Care) or EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) card, plus a current professional-rescuer CPR card. You also need to be a strong skier, physically fit and willing to sometimes work long days.
You will need to apply with the Aspen Skiing Company and talk to the ski patrol director at the mountain where you are applying. Most likely you will need to interview with the patrol director, meet and ski with some of the patrollers and pass a written and practical medical exam given by the patrol. Requirements and hiring practices at each mountain vary a little so you should contact the individual patrol directors.
Many other jobs are availbale at the ski areas, hotel, lodge, offices and mountain restaurtants of the Aspen Skiing Company. Most are seasonal but there are year round positions too.
Housing in the Aspen area can be hard to find and expensive.
All employnent questions should be directed to the Aspen Skiing Company.
