    The United Professional Ski Patrollers Association (UPSPA) is established as Local 7781 under the Communicatons Workers of America.

    The Killington ski patrol drops out of the Council of Professional Ski Patrollers.

    District 2A of the American Maritime Officers AFL-CIO goes out of business leaving the ski patrol associations to fend for themselves.

    Representatives from the Aspen, Breckenridge, Canyons, Crested Butte, Steamboat and Killington ski patrol associations unite to form a Council of Professional Ski Patrollers.

    Members of the Aspen Professional Ski Patrol Association, which has been independent since 1986, voted 54 to 12 in favor of affiliation with District 2A of the American Maritime Officers AFL-CIO.

    Patrollers at The Canyons vote 25 to 5 in favor of representation by District 2A of the American Maritime Officers AFL-CIO.

    In an NLRB representation election the Steamboat ski patrol voted 44 to 12 in favor of the union. Their organization is called the Steamboat Professional Ski Patrol Association. They chose to affiliate with District 2A of the American Maritime Officers AFL-CIO. This is the same union representing the Breckenridge Professional Ski Patrol Association and the Crested Butte Ski Patrol Association.
